HISTORY BUFF
History buffs enjoy Evergreen’s historic
downtown. Hiwan Homestead Museum
offers tours, classes and events year-round
both on the grounds and in the exquisitely
constructed 25-room log lodge. Native
American artwork is on permanent display
and award-winning exhibits rotate throughout the year. Annual outdoor events include
a colorful autumn Outdoor Quilt Festival
and summertime “Movies in the Grove,”
including a unique silent film with piano
accompaniment. Children can step back into
simpler times year-round with school and
educational programs and special Halloween and Christmas celebrations. On 35 acres
near Bergen Park the Humphrey Memorial
Park and Museum offers “Under the Stars”
summer events and yearlong weekly classes
in everything from home brewing root beer
to making gingerbread, potholders and soap.
Pieces of 19th century ranching life are preserved and the Humphrey family’s unique
collection of arts and curiosities from their
travels around the world is on display. For
behind-the-wheel historians, the Lariat Loop
National Scenic Byway car cruise passes
through Evergreen as it retraces 1920 access
routes to Denver Mountain Parks.
PARTY OF SIX?
Whether your party is 6 or 600, Evergreen’s
blue skies, sparkling waters and majestic
mountains make it the perfect setting for
your special event. Indoor and outdoor venues, from formal to casual, are available.
Meadows at Marshdale, The Pines at Genesee,
Mt. Vernon Country Club, and the Chart
House offer spaces for retreats, receptions,
banquets and more. If your special day is a
wedding, Lyrical Life Ceremonies and Rocky
Mountain Ceremonies are available to help.
The historic Boettcher Mansion, The Brook
Forest Inn and popular Evergreen Lake
House are memorable event center options.
The Place in Evergreen offers a multipurpose auditorium and telepresence conference room and Evergreen’s Fire Rescue
Training room is also available for rent. For
family picnics or reunions, pavilions can be
reserved at one of Jefferson County Open
Space or Denver Mountain Parks or visit The
Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park where
rustic and rich options exist for both small
and large groups. Your overnight guests will
enjoy falling asleep to the sound of flowing creek waters at Bauer’s Spruce Island
Chalets, Highland Haven’s Creekside Inn,
Alpen Way Chalet or Bears Inn Bed and
Breakfast.
