he Center for the Arts Evergreen starts things off
with a bang with the Summerfest Arts Festival.
The two-day arts and crafts event features over 100 different
artists and craftspeople. On display are creations of every variety. Booths are lined with exquisite fine arts, foods and wearable
fabric arts. Festival participants include a large contingent of
“Made in Colorado” artisans conveniently presenting their wares
in one location. Younger guests are delighted by the outstanding
children’s area where games, Lego activities, play, costume and hat
making, a magician, and face painting are all available. On the large
entertainment stage, Evergreen Players perform segments from
their current musical performance and popular local bands give
Saturday Nite Live afternoon and evening performances. The craft
of beer making is even celebrated. Palette of the Brews offers craft
beer tasting from 20 different Denver microbreweries. Held outdoors
surrounded by scenery as stunning as the art, the Summerfest Arts
Festival is a not-to-be-missed affair.
Not far away, the Humphrey History Park and Museum invites
visitors for an Arts Alive! Open House and Free Day with traditional
summer refreshments in its English garden. Or visit the Hiwan
Homestead Museum where a free outdoor movie is playing under
the stars. Bring your lawn chairs and settle in with complimentary
popcorn at this Movie in the Grove event. Western-themed silent
films are often accompanied by live music with well-known pianist
Hank Troy of the Queen City Jazz Band.
Hear impressive stories behind the making of wood, metal, recy-
cled material, resin and stone creations when Sculpture Evergreen
volunteers take you on fascinating tours of the uniquely different
sculptures installed in and around town. Or visit the Main Street
Fine Art Gallery where Evergreen Artists Association members give
